A little history of the Costa Brava

LThe Costa Brava is the name assigned to the coastal area of Spain that begins in Blanes and ends at the border with France, in Portbou. It is bordered to the north by the Costa Vermella and to the south by the Costa del Maresme.

The territory of the Costa Brava is formed by localities of the Alt Empordà, Baix Empordà and part of the most coastal localities of La Selva. The coastline of the coastal area is formed by some of the following towns;



Its landscape captivated many artists, among them Salvador Dalí. The painter lived in the village with Gala and now you can visit his residence, the Casa Museo Salvador Dalí. Although it is a town that attracts many tourists, the area has not become overcrowded and continues to maintain its fishing village appearance.



A town in the Baix Empordà region with a little more than 2,800 inhabitants. It consists of three nuclei: Pals, Masos de Pals and Platja de Pals. The singularities of each of these offer different proposals to tourists. Pals is home to most of the heritage of the area, Masos de Pals is formed by a group of farmhouses of great architectural interest and the “Playa” of Pals has all the resources to enjoy the Mediterranean.



Municipality in the Baix Empordà region. It is located at the foot of the Gavarres massif. It is made up of 9 population centers: El Bruguerol, Calella de Palafrugell, Ermedàs, Llafranc, Llofríu, Palafrugell, Santa Margarida, Tamariu and Vila-seca. In Calella de Palafrugell, every year, during the month of July, the typical festival of Habaneras is celebrated.

This municipality is formed by Castell d’Aro, Platja d’Aro and S’Agaró. The three nuclei offer an ideal environment for the practice of sports; in addition to a proposal of leisure, commerce and important cultural activities. During the arrival of tourism on the Costa Brava, this town has become one of the main destinations.
